I posted about my dancing diamonds from the Lot calling me home earlier this week. I included a shot of the bridge over Bayou St. John in New Orleans, but it just can't compare to this one that I took back in the late 90's. It's the opposite side of the bridge from where I was dangling my feet and an afternoon, not a morning! When I lived in New Orleans, I had to get on my bike to be able to see the diamonds. Here, they just jump right into the Chatette and have a party! I love photos with reflections and diamonds, so you'll see quite a few photos like this in my portfolio. I laughed when a friend of mine asked: "Did you use a star filter for that effect?" I didn't even know what a star filter was, and I can't imagine that it would produce anything as beautiful and natural as this shot! I am a camera in my pocket girl. Another friend had invited me to go with him on a beautiful afternoon to shoot some bayou shots. We got out at our location and he began to unpack. This guy had more luggage with him than I take on an international flight! He was lugging his stuff around with him...setting up his shots with his tripod. Me, I enjoyed the stroll, pulled my camera out of a pocket of my overalls from time to time, and looked behind me to watch him packing up and straggling behind. I realized that day that my photography technique reflects the way I live my life...simple, uncomplicated, travel light and with no heavy baggage to tie me down or keep me lagging behind! As you can imagine, this friendship never progressed to the level of romance. My photographic technique barometer screamed "Incompatible" in more ways than one.
