Accordion players appear all over Paris. They may pop in and out of the metro or stake out a spot and play for the passersby. I love accordions. I discovered this beautiful, colorful, young woman staking out her spot close to Sacre Coeur on Sunday Morning. The colors and flowers pulled me to her, but it was the music and her mischievous smile that held me there and got the tip. I've pondered learning to play the accordion. When I was in the process of buying the Chatette, I would stay in Cahors with Stu and Mad. Each evening, I would walk up the Rue Gambetta to return to their home, and pass the Accordion School. When Kat and Tom were with me that November of 2001-we stopped at the window and watched the Accordion Class in action. Maybe there's an accordion and an accordion class in my future!
Accordian music just oozes Paris to me! Did that young woman put up all the flowers? It looks like a big flowered parasol. The accordian was the first instrument to intrigue me as well. When I was growing up, it seemed like everyone was taking accordian lessons, then it sort of faded out of style. I had no idea there were still accordian schools around. I'm putting that one in Cahors on my 'to do' list for my next trip. Do you think they'd let us come in and just listen??

sounds interesting ! Some of my uncles were folk musicians in Denmark playing accordian, but nowadays some artists in Norway and Finland have started to develop it into really interesting stuff and Laury take a look on my blog, I'm in New York in my overalls right now and tomorrow we are going to have an overalls party in brooklyn ! and on Sunday, when I am in Texas, I am meeting an overalls sister in Denton, http://araratacres.blogspot.com/!

Hey Evelyn and Niels...I vote for playing the accordian in our overalls for the barn raising party! I don't know if the school is still in Cahors but I need to find out. We might be dangerous with accordians in our hands and in overalls!
