Yesterday's mission into Figeac did not allow time for my usual leisurely red wine at my favorite Tabac between the Carrefour and the Bus Stop. I had a prioritized list...French taxes special deliveried from the Figeac Post Office, Bank, paper for the printer, my list for the Carrefour and then on the side under "if time"-les Anis de Flavigny and Weldom for some hardware items. Weldom was the loser on this visit...partly because I was hungry and partly because I didn't have room to carry anything else in my bursting purple backpack. After the Post Office, the epicerie with these les Anis de Falvigny that Kat and Tom love was too close to pass up. I scooped these up and everyone in the store laughed-the woman behind the counter said: "Provisions!" And I said, "oui-pour mes amis aux Etats-Unis." I almost forgot the bank before Carrefour, which would have been disastrous. But I made a small u-turn and hit my favorite money machine at the Credit Agricole before I hot footed it across the bridge to the Carrefour. When I finished, I was starving so I headed back into town a bit to one of my favorite Patisseries-La Panetière aux Saveurs d'Antan for a bus stop drink and snack. At the counter, I had my Croque Fromage and my Orangina ready to check out, when I saw these darling mini-meringues. I looked at the sign that said 15€ and almost choked. The young man at the counter and the woman behind me laughed...no, 15€ per kilo...so my sweet little bag of mini-meringues was all but about 45 centimes! All this-in an hour and 30 minutes! The whole town of Figeac belly-laughs the moment I get off the bus! Happy Saturday!
If you haven't already figured it out...Dali and I are pretty much together all the time. She likes to come with me whenever she can, and most recently she's been doing a lot of hanging out with me at the barn and on the new pieces of land. Since so much of this is new to us, it is a little confusing for her from time to time. She gets this look on her face that you see here of: "Okay, what now?" But no matter what, she always comes along.
Now Evelyn, you already know that I don't have to do a thing to be the crazy American woman...it's gotten to where they just expect it of me. I'm sure they'll just add "Flowers on the Barn" to my already long list of nuttiness. Wait till I name the Barn!

I figure you can use the contents of the boxes to back up the tins, Kat! And then last night at dinner-Jean had made these absolutely heavenly mèringues-bigger, fluffier, white, and very melt in your mouth! It was kind of a mèringue weekend!

Sounds like a fun trip! Have the previous barn owners seen it decorated with all the flowers? I bet the whole village just chuckles...who but the crazy American woman puts flowers on their barn???
