Finishing up the grass cutting the other day, I found this early photo of the garden on the left. Back then, when I was just dropping in for a month here or there, my grass was usually cut by the teenagers of friends. It was clear, green and almost manicured in appearance. Today, you can see the evidence of "occupation"-the wood is stacked, the bench and umbrella are ready to be enjoyed with a book and a morning coffee, or a book and an afternoon Cahors. Shrubs have grown, trees have been planted, the budlheas are thriving in the lower garden and along the road, and 2 sets of wisteria are spreading rapidly along the train track wall. I used to dream of purple everywhere in my garden. I have purple everywhere! Life is good.
