The back perimeter of Columbus Street had once been a carport/shed type thing in the early days. The roof was in really bad shape so when it was removed, all that remained was a high cinder-block wall on three sides. Although not my intention, I discovered that it made parking those 12 cars during JazzFest an easier proposition. I could park four cars against this back wall, then 3, then five single file down the driveway to the street. Most years the drive looked like a parking lot full of my friends' cars and I was the parking attendant. One year, while directing someone to their spot; I thought it might be fun to paint some of my favorite places in France on the wall. You may not recognize it, but that's my rendition of St. Cirq Lapopie behind my sweet Stinky cat. The walls didn't survive the flood. I returned to a tumbled St. Cirq Lapopie laying all over the yard. We eventually carried all my puzzle pieces of St. Cirq Lapopie out to a truck to be disposed of. But hey, these days I have the real thing!
