Rooting through some old photo files to make a wedding card for some friends, I discovered this shot of the barn on the left that was taken in the fall of 2009. It was shocking to see where we began, and how far we've come in an almost year and a half by just taking it a step at a time. I'm not the Wonder Woman of DIY, but I do what I can and what I can afford to do. Our picture of our place is really rounding out and coming into focus. We're quickly getting to the point where more money and artisans are required. But for now, I'll keep digging, cleaning, wire brushing, varnishing, planting and mostly loving and touching on our place.
Evelyn's been here a little over two weeks now. Both she and our friend Jane, have pointed out to me that Evelyn has a better view of the barn than I do. It's true. From the Chatette, all you see is a side stone wall. Here is a barn view from Evelyn's-Happy Weekend!
Thanks so much for your comment. It is particularly special because I am in the states supporting my family and aging parents through a crisis and will then return to New Orleans to do some work. Responding here took me to our barn and our magical place and made me smile. We are very "hobbity" over there! Happy Holidays to You and Yours-Laury

I'm into making things as easy and uncomplicated for myself as possible...and when I'm working overalls do that for me! I still pinch myself when I look at these photos! Have a great week!-Laury

it is so fantastic to see the difference one makes through hard work ! and talking about loving overalls and all that, one thing you and I share with Bodil, Evelyn and others are the love of digging, planting moving around and working outside, no matter you have overalls on or not ! it looks like people work it out without overalls, believe it or not !:)niels
