The Way of the Roses

Getting ready for a weekend of nightly pizza dinner parties at the Chatette; I wanted to dress us up a bit by placing some of our beautiful flowers around in strategic places. The prettiest arrangement by far was the tall roses and peonies that I placed on the ledge of the fireplace in front of the screen. I crossed my fingers that they'd make it through the weekend, and they did...just barely. The vase water must taste as good as the flowers are pretty. I frequently find my Sammie cat with her head stuck in there drinking away. There are times I worry that a thorn is going to get her, but she must have her technique down. I never find any thorns in her whiskers or on her face. By the end of the weekend, all that remained of this beautiful bouquet was a very open peony that is now resting in the same place...but in a cassis bottle vase. Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
