It doesn't make any difference how many times I see St. Cirq Lapopie, it always takes my breath away. She beckoned me to return to the Lot for more than just vacation. My five weeks of more than vacation made me want to find a way to make a place for myself in the Lot. And,
I did. Not only do I have a place in the Lot...I have home.
Leaving home is never easy for me. During 2006, Dali, Sam and I left the remanants of what had been our home in New Orleans to come to our place in the Lot. How lucky were we, that the Chatette and the valley was here, ready and waiting to surround us in their nurturing and healing peace...a life raft in the midst of the torture that was New Orleans for me after the storm. During our six years here we've been happy, home, and we've become more than I ever could have dreamed possible. We are planted in the Lot.
As I prepare to return to New Orleans and Columbus Street with Dali and Sam for an extended period of time; I recognize that this is a very different departure. I see this time away from home as an extention of what I need to do to be able to be even more here. There are things I must do and steps to be taken that I can now move forward with, knowing that the Chatette, the Barn, and Msr. Winkelmann will be waiting. I have a goal.
