FUN comes in all shapes and sizes when you are in the middle of a crisis and trying to make sense of it all! You might even find funny in the most unusual places. Fun and funny help us cope.
After a visit to my Dad, Mom and I decided to go out to a restaurant instead of just picking something up on the way home as usual. With me living in France and Mom taking care of Dad, neither of us are in tune to eating out around here. I spied a Cracker Barrel on the other side of the expressway, et voila. I'd never been to a Cracker Barrel before-I loved the rocking chairs for sale, the gift shop held many surprises, and we ate our lunch/dinner in front of a huge fireplace with a roaring fire that made me feel right at home. We had fun.
We've been having television issues. Pushing the right buttons to get it on has been a challenge for Mom. Me-I knew nothing. My Dad has been the keeper of the clicker and getting my hands on it was just never that important to me. So, we had an "expert" come and show us step by step what we were doing wrong and what buttons to push. There is more to this story, but the funnier part of that day was watching my Mom try to talk to my brother on the TV Clicker instead of on the telephone later that night. It shouldn't be this funny, but I'm still laughing!
And then there are the good friends and supporters who always chime in with the familiar to remind you that your life truly does go on as your remembered it. Hours at the counter with Mike, Drew and Buster did the trick!
Fun, funny, funnier...I just don't know if I can stand all this fun. But in the midst of it all, I'm sharing precious moments with my Mom and Dad that may not come again. And for that-I'm grateful.
