Pretzel Heaven

Pretzel Heaven was particularly short-lived on Sunday. Oh, that Kat and I had just stayed at the Galleria and wallowed in pretzels, weenies, cheese dipping sauce and cookies! Some days, you should just quit while you're ahead. Go home. Curl up with a good book. By the end of Sunday, I curled up with my good book, my Sammie cat, and would have cradled a bottle of Jameson in my arms if I'd had one! Monday is looking good.

Memory Lane

As luck would have it; before I left New Orleans, a friend of mine emailed to say he'd been thinking of me and we needed to get together next time I was in St. Louis. We'd been talking about dancing in the past, so I wrote back and said: "Me and my feet want to dance." And dance we did. We met somewhere in the middle to hear a live dance band called the Rythm Rockers. Living in New Orleans I am spoiled for music, but these guys were incredible. Living in France I'm spoiled for ambiance, and well...they played in a "sports bar" that left 2 pool tables in the the middle of the dance floor, put this incredible band of 5 on a cramped corner stage, and when I asked for a "Perrier", our very young waitress asked: "What's that?" (I felt the same way I did the last time a brewer in a Ferguson coffee shop had no idea what a "Cafe au Lait" was.) Maybe if they called it a "Sports Bistro" I'd feel better!                                                                                                                                                                                                     Ronnie and I have history. We have fun. We seem to be of like minds. And, at our ages...this is better than as good as it gets. It just is what it is! Daredevils and Deviled Eggs

                    Some early morning bike rides turn into adventures!                                                                                                                        Turning down Dupre Street on Monday monring, I found Eric out walking my Louie boy. I'd already considered bringing some deviled eggs over to them, but this was perfect. We visited a minute, and I promised to return with the treasure. My bike basked was the perfect carrier for my sushi containers, turned deviled egg delivery packages.                                                                                                                                                                                                                               I arrived to find this bus stopped and honking wildly. Both Eric and Stew were already out, our friend Barbara across the street came out too, and pretty soon we figured out what was going on. Dupre is a narrow street. If you park well on both sides, even the buses can get through. If you don't, well here you have it. Frankly, I was amazed that this bus driver had gotten as far as she did. The guilty party came out. Stew took over, got that car moved, while other neighbors moved other cars to make it easier all the way around. Success! Lots of tooting, blowing, waving, smiling, and everyone was off to their day. I too, handed off my deviled eggs. Got a good morning kiss from Stew, that I teased tasted like coffee. We'd had quite a day together...and it wasn't even 8am! Ah, life in New Orleans!

Riding 'Round the Raindrops

I'd always wondered who in the world would sit at these nasty cement benches and picnic tables that you find out in City Park under the 610 overpass?                                                                                                                                             Tuesday, I found out! Me and my friend! It was threatening when we left my house on our bikes. We parked beside a very green lagoon a bit on past City Bark and unrolled the blanket. Good thing it was water repellant on one side. Pretty soon we were tented up, bikes and all. But, it was fun. Neither of us were so sweet we'd melt, so we just kept on moving from pit stop to pit stop...lagoon, under 610, CC's on Esplanade and then on home. It was good practice for my drive to St. Louis-pouring rain from the start of I-55 at least half the way into Mississippi. But, we're here!                                                                                                                                                                                                                           

On the Road Again

Navigator Sam and I plan to be running up I-55 today, getting into St. Louis around 5ish. She's set-Dal's big carrier in the back seat is going to give her lots of room to move, spread and be her silly Sam. I'll be back when I can. Till then-have a good rest of the week.

Friends and Photos

My friends are doing such a good job of taking care of me. Early last week after one of those in-between sleeping and waking visits from Dali, I wrote to tell Marina about it because she was there too. Amazingly, just the night before she had been working on some photos of Dali that she wanted to make into a portrait. Our Dal is an Alpha Dog in spirit too!                                                                                                                                                                                           And then yesterday, I was asking Evelyn if I had any roses in the garden at the Chatette. She mentioned that there were a few, but not near as prolific as last summer. I didn't expect them to be, but I was still a little disappointed. I spoiled them...weeding, daily watering, and engrais-ing from time to time. The up side is that they will be even happier to see me when I return next summer.

Summers of France Fete Fun in Cadrieu

Ah, summers in Cadrieu! It didn't make any difference if I was a "full-timer" or not, I usually made at least one summer event in Cadrieu. Since purchase of the Chatette in 2002, the only summer I'd missed until now, was 2003. I was working at LSU, making the big bucks so I worked straight through until the Christmas holidays when I could take the time to go.

Looking back at 2003, is helping face this summer of Cadrieu friend and fete withdrawal...not to mention-celebrating my August birthday in the Lot every year I could since 1998. I tell myself, "you didn't go in 2003, and the Chatette and your life were waiting there for you when you got back." Et Voila! I'm planning on the same this next this time around, but it doesn't stop the wistfulness for this evening with my friends who should all be at the Diner de Candard ce soir-Duck Dinner tonight! And so, a few fun France fete photos to wish everyone well and say: I wish I were there!                                                                                                                                                                                  Et, OUI!
