As the anniversary celebration drew to a close Saturday afternoon, it was interesting to me to see that our circle was made up of family and neighbors. Not just "any" neighbors: Theresa, John and John Smythe live on Mom and Dad's right, and, Mike Kelly lives directly across the street. I was reminded of the years we've shared at 411: Christmases, Birthdays, other wedding anniversaries, and yes, even International Overalls Weekend one year. I've always felt more secure about Mom and Dad when they were on their own, because I knew that Mike, and the Smythes were close by. I'll never forget a very early morning in Stuttgart Germany, watching Anderson Cooper tell me about a tornado that had touched down in St.Louis near the airport. My folks live 15 minutes from the airport, as do Kat and Tom. I immediately got on Skype, but couldn't reach my family. I did reach Theresa, who told me everyone was okay on their side of Thoroughman, but just across the street-terrible destruction. I eventually reached everyone throughout the early morning, before going to work, but it was all pretty incredible. Proximity, Adversity, Longevity, and shared memories; made our Saturday circle even more meaningful. HUGE MERCI for the love and support of wonderful friends and neighbors-With Love from Mom and Dad, and all the rest of us too!
