My music mission for the 60th Wedding Anniversary celebration, turned out to be a little more difficult to accomplish than I'd originally hoped. I trudged on. Evelyn scanned my music when I couldn't find my arrangement on line, but then-where could I play? ("Practice" might be a little better word at this point than "play".) I made one afternoon run over to Stew and Eric's to practice there. Well, the Saints were on, I had a glass of wine (or two), and Louie boy was by my side. After one round-I'd decided I'd had enough piano for one afternoon. Once I got to St. Louis, I remembered that the Smythes had a piano. We made arrangements for me to come over on the morning of the event to do a quick run through around 9am. Sheet music in my arms, I walked across the property line and settled nicely into their living room while they continued to make breakfast in the kitchen. It was a slow start, but by the time I ended with a rousing round of Moon River; I was in tears. I went into the kitchen, and they were crying too. We teased about being a bunch of softies. But let's face it, that's what the magic of music memories does. They told me that they might enjoy piano music for breakfast every morning. The rest of the day went well. Moon River, et al. were great hits at Hidden Lake. And...I was invited back to play at Theresa and John's the next morning. You never know what memories you'll make, while looking for a piano to play!
