When you're THE WRITER, it really should be your day...don't ya think? Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending a book signing at Garden District Books for: "Where Writers Wrote in New Orleans" by Angela Carll, Featuring Illustrations by Loyd L. Sensat, Jr. and Eugene D. Cizek.
Angela had interviewed me for my first job in New Orleans, in 1978. So, I've know Angela and Russ for a long time and have enjoyed having a window into their lives all these years. I was so proud, pleased and really- honored, to sit in the audience with family, friends, and a stray or two, to share in Angela's special day. Taking two streetcars of two different colors home; I had a chance to begin my signed copy (with one in reserve just in case). The cover is beautiful. The illustrations add that special touch. And, Angela's writing is Angela...free, easy, funny, full of great information, smiles and never dull.

I'll be back with more when I finish. What better way to begin than: rumbling down St. Charles to Canal on a full green car; waiting for the Canal-City Park Museum red car as a Lucky Dog vender passed; enjoying the ride with a couple from Brazil who asked "What do you call this?"; and, watching a Dad with his little girl and her Ariel mermaid balloon toy bounce up and down as the car shimmied from side to side. We know why writers write in New Orleans. Congratulations Angela! You promised, and we'll all be looking forward to #2!
