Shortly after I arrived on Friday, Glenn and Bill were going to be on their way for their daily visit to Bill's 96 year old Dad who lives on the other side of the lake. I know how my parents are about "strangers" popping up, so I was very pleased that I was able to tag along.
The views from the other side were spectacular. Bill showed me how to find the location of their place, even though it is out of sight. He left me to my picture taking to tend to his Dad.
Mr. Jones was so sweet. The four of us visited over brandies, egg nogs with whiskey, and other goodies. We shared family, some of Glenn's fabulous pointilist pieces drawn from family photos that hung above the sofa of Mr. Jones's choice, made sure everything was okay, and he was set before we headed back home for the evening.
We are all of that age where being there for our parents the best that we can is important. I'm a lot further away than across the lake from mine, but at least it's not 5000 miles and an ocean at the moment. That all can change in a heartbeat. Thanks to Mr. Jones for sharing his beautiful place and company with me, and a very special Happy Birthday today to Bill!
