Although much of my reflecting happens in my photography; I try to sit back and reflect regularly on my life, times, behavior and patterns.
While I was journaling the other day, I was smacked by the fact that since we'd returned from France I had not included any of my photos in my journals...fourteen months with no photos, when I included them regularly while we were living in France. I'm still reflecting on this discovery.
After having a difficult conversation with a friend yesterday, I'd been given cause to reflect more. Living this flexible life is a dangle dance, but a dance that also gives me choices and opportunities to respond to what may be happening all over the world. Even though I want to be in France, there are reasons to be in New Orleans and now there are more reasons to be in St. Louis. I like to nest. I like to be settled. All that is difficult when three locations are calling me for different reasons.
My friend Stuart used to say: "Laury, when one door closes another will open. I know. I'm right. I've seen it!" He was so sure. He always made me smile. Upon reflection once more, Stu was right. Having one door close has forced me to think creatively and look out of the box.
Another door is cracked. I'm about to stick my foot in and poke my nose through. Today, I'm feeling the excitement of new views and new opportunities.
