So many things remind us of those we've lost. Each loss is different, especially in the ability to hold our loved ones close and carry on. Where it comes from, I couldn't tell you. It just seems to be one of those things that happens through a strength of love and spirit.
Earlier this week I wrote about camelias and a memory of our friend, Nadine. I sent it to those who were with me that day and also to Nadine's daughter, Heidi. It's funny. Throughout my friendship with Nadine, I heard about all of her friends, family and children. I began to feel I knew them even though I hadn't met everyone. Prior to Nadine's passing, I'd never met her daughter Heidi. We've written back and forth a bit. We shared how much we miss Nadine, but then Heidi said: "It would make Mom happy that we are in touch." And, she is so right.
Here's to Nadine. One more time. (Not necessarily the last!) We know she's smiling that beautiful smile and working her magic in all of our carrying on.
I love "off-topic", Kat. I didn't even notice that those buttons were hearts. It's the smile in that top picture that is the same I knew too, so it was fun to find it in her childhood photos already. Miss you-Love, Laury
