My pal Carol Miles has been a "Diva" since the organization began back in 2002. I've never made it to see them march, so yesterday was a real treat.
The husbands dress up like Elvis, do the Elvis point and stand down, and Keith even had a stamp that said "Elvis Slept Here". We all lined up to have our hands stamped!
The Divas Headquarter at Arnaud's, so everyone lined up over there. I got to talking to a photographer from Baton Rouge named David, who was there to take shots for some friends. We traded stories while we waited for the Divas. Carol likes to tease me that I could hold a conversation with a brick wall...it always makes me smile. David turned out to be fun AND shared some very special DIVA loot with me. Jan and Gaden Robert were there too, and Carol and Keith's daughter Emma is a Diva, as well. Jan said I should march with them, but I'm more of a photographer and less of a marcher these days. The timing does fit into my 4-4-4 plan, but I don't think I have the patience to bead the elaborate bustiers and costumes they make. I leave you with my "Diva Treat" from Dave (someone gave him 2) and a collage of some favorite photos from the march. Happy Mardi Gras!
