I love riding the bus...for lots of reasons. Yesterday, I gathered myself together with a Plan A list and a Plan B list. While waiting at the stop, Jean-Pierre came down the hill on his bike and stopped to chat with me before heading off to Montbrun. My French got a work out. He was off, but we caught up with him again on the road.
(Just a little scary, don't you think?)
I'd settled into a seat in the back that I don't usually take, and was reminded how much I love the same seats on the buses in New Orleans. You are higher and can see everything much better. Then, I looked up and remembered I was in France when I saw the sign: "Don't put feet on the seats!" I'm still shocked and pleased with myself when I understand.
I was able to proceed with Plan A since I was able to get the money I needed. That meant a real hustle to be able to make the noon bus. I headed to the Poste to get more stamps. Then, to a card shop further into Figeac to get some special cards that Kat and I have come to love.
I hustled over to Weldom to check out their paint brushes (lots of painting and varnishing in my future), since Dad suggested just getting a bunch and throwing them away when I was done. But once again, I had great success at the Carrefour.
I was shocked to discover that my favorite tabac was closed, so I stopped in a new spot just across the street and discovered some of the prettiest, flakiest, chocolate stuffed, chocolatines that I've yet to discover anywhere.
I headed back to the bus stop to wait and enjoy my chocolatine and beverage of choice...
I went a little crazy taking shots while the bus was moving all the way home. I imagined that someone must have been thinking what a "tourist" I was, but I didn't care...I was having fun and enjoying the ride.
And of course, for me...the perfect end to what I consider the most beautiful bus route in the world, is when some of my bus drivers "deposit" me in front of the Chatette! This is the life...and another flaky chocolatine for breakfast this morning ain't half bad, either!
What fun! + mmmmmmm chocolat!
