I'm sure you can imagine the kind of damage equipment this size would do to a yard and other structures when not handled gently. Add in: trespassing; moving items; leaving the septic tank and building materials on my property; continuing to park and cross my property even after I was there and had spoken to them and the workmen; and, it isn't a very pretty picture. This is what I arrived to on May 2. Fortunately, Evelyn scooped these photos (and many more) and warned me while I was still in St. Louis that this was happening almost in the moment on my property
Before I left the states I was able to contact my friend and Mairie Adjoint who spoke to them. After more and more of this, I wrote a letter to the new neighbors requesting that they repair my property by the end of July. The letter was copied to the Mairie, and the Mairie Adjoint. As of today, nothing has been done and I have not received a response to the letter I wrote in the middle of June. I am kicking in to plan B.
On a limited budget, I try very hard to work with what I have and still be effective.
I've been back and forth about my options and have come up with an excellent solution until I have more cash.
For now, I've replaced my wood log barrier that they moved to cross my property so they could get a huge digger to the back of their property. I've also planted yuccas and buddleias, and added in some very artistic tree trunks for good measure.
I should add that this does nothing to replace my wildflowers, grass or level my roller coaster land that is now a challenge to cut; but it's the best I can do for now.
Interestingly, I have the piece de resistance already resting in my tunnel. An old ancient iron gate. I've measured it. It's perfect. I've tried out my black iron paint...it covers up the rust. Not only will it work, but it makes just the kind of statement that seems to be required with neighbors like these.
Wait till you see the finished product! Sometimes out of adveristy, there can be a silver lining! Maybe I can borrow Lucie again to supervise-I need all the help I can get!
