Arriving in Paris on Wednesday morning at 7am, I was ready for a cappucinno and pain au chocolat. But first, I needed to get some metro tickets and decide where to go.
Montmartre pulled me to her once more, but I was surprised to see on my wander from the Abbesses Metro stop that very little was open. I did find Le Ronsard at the base of Sacre Coeur open and scooped a table inside. I was the only customer (for a while). I enjoyed my breakfast and sorted through what I might like to do since most things didn't open until 10am. I'd noticed the post office opened at 8, so I began there with some special pacakges to mail. Believe it or not, I have final drafts of my coffee table book ready and wanted to send them to my sister and the Carlls who have agreed to proof them for me before I self publish. I'd clipped the pages and one was poking through.
I must have made the mistake of using the word "clip" and the woman thought I meant a USB and that would need a customs form. She brought it back. I was happy to fill it out, but I explained a little further. She laughed and said I didn't need it, she'd misunderstood. I apologized. She said: "No, c'est moi." I said: "No, c'est moi." And then this other customer's husky, male voice behind us chimes in: "No, c'est moi!" The whole place was roaring! Monsieur C'est Moi was absolutely gorgeous and then apologized himself. I teased that he needed to be careful or it could start all over again.
I left to take the Funicular up, but chose a new church to explore other than Sacre Coeur. More on Church St. PIerre of Montmartre, Paris tomorrow.
It's fun to think of us in parallel universes doing similar things. I confess to not being in my overalls-it was a great day! I'm happy to be home and exhausted, but sweetly so. Coming home is always wonderful, even if you've really looked forward to going. Love you-Travel safe home when the time comes-Laury and Sammie cat
