It's no secret that Henri Miller's "Ecoute" is a favorite Paris sight of mine. To be honest, it is my favorite...partly just for what it is, but mostly for what it means to me personally. It is my top Paris "pilgrimage" place. Every trip, I head over to the head and St. Eustache near Les Halles.
Early in my Paris travels, I mentioned to my brother how much I loved the head. He told me he'd seen something similar somewhere near Canal Street. I hunted and found it on the first block of Elks Place right off Canal. I wasn't a "camera in my pocket" kind of girl back then, plus it's located on an end of Canal Street that I don't visit regularly, so no photos. But now, with the Tulane School of Social Work located on just that block, et voila!
I got a few shots this weekend. I'm sure you can see the similarities, but some of the differences are glaring.
I looked for a plaque with more information, but couldn't find one. It may be time for further investigation. Although it will never grab my heart the way "Ecoute" has done, each morning that I head to the school to teach; it will carry me to that splendid scene in front of St. Eustache with the head in the heart of Les Halles! Have a great week everyone!
