I've made quite a point of "no television" in my life. It's easy to affect in France and New Orleans, but here in St. Louis; I've found myself succumbing to television from time to time. It's here. We initially brought it downstairs for Mom to watch when she comes for her overnighters with me. Although public television is my favorite, I've found myself watching multiple episodes of "In the Heat of the Night" that then carries me up to two episodes of "Stargate" on Sunday evenings. Tuesday nights are NCIS and NCIS New Orleans and Wednesday nights it's "Criminal Minds". As if this weren't enough, I've fallen in love with Steve Harvey and "Angelina Ballerina". Oh well, I am just a big kid at heart.
And then, television has been my lifeline during the Ferguson unrest. I laid on the sofa on Monday night, November 24, watching Ferguson burning until almost 2am. At that point, I felt it was safe to drop off to sleep. I needed to know if any of the "disobedience" was going to be making its way into the more residential areas. Fortunately, it did not. Everything in moderation...no more poo-pooing television.
