You can't escape it if you live in New Orleans. Surrender! From Twelfth Night on, it's Mardi Gras Time. My festivities began yesterday with my first: piece of king cake of the season (and a second, third and fourth later in the day) at Rose Nicaud; plate of deviled eggs for a parade party; and, parade-Krewe de Vieux! We are rolling.
The best part of it all is the people. Saturday morning, Rose Nicaud was full of old friends, new friends, and even a trio of beautiful young women from Paris (and oui, J'ai parle un peu francais!).
Later in the day just before dark, Steve scooped me up (with Brett and Travis already in the car) to go have a little get together before the Krewe de Vieux rolled. We had a great time hanging out and catching up before the parade. Terry and Larry arrived in the meantime. We nibbled some more and then, we were off!
Terry scooped this shot of me...are we having fun yet?
More on that tomorrow
Actually, Niels...those are the Dickies that I bought when I first returned to New Orleans. They are a couple of years old and very comfortable. I'm wearing them a lot now, plus during 2013 Eric wore them for the party and in 2014, my friend Michel wore them...they are getting around. I am overalls upped for the moment. They are conversation starters-met a cute young man on the parade route last night in his overalls-Missing you guys-Love, Laury and Sam
