You can take the girl out of the midwest, but you can't take the midwesterner out of the girl. I am always on time or early. Yesterday's meet-up at the Napoleon House was no different. But, who can complain about the opportunity to sup on a nice Maison Nicolas Pinot Noir, hug Sal, hug Mack, and learn a little more about Jordan while I waited, and even journaled just a bit.
I'd thought that my friends were walking over from their place on Barracks, but it wasn't till they arrived that I discovered they were coming in from the airport.
It made no difference-there were those squealy teenage girl hellos and hugs after years apart from "girls" long past that age. Ann and I may have perfected it!
I'd chosen the perfect table. I knew there'd be at least 4-we had five. They'd just picked up Marty's sister Monica and her friend Deb, so everyone was happy to relax, have a beverage of choice, and a little lunch.
Creature of habit that I am, it was avocado stuffed with shrimp remoulade again while the gang shared mufelattas and sides of jambalaya. I must confess, at the end of the wonderful pinot noir I succumbed. I decided I'd be better off with a bottle.
Ann and I were still talking when Marty and the rest of the gang were ready for a walk down Decatur towards Espalande. What a treat to have a leisurely afternoon to catch up with somone who had been a colleauge, acquaintance, and friend of friends before the storm; but has NOW become a "friend" through facebook, face-to-face and in person!
By the time I needed to move on to my next event at 3pm, Ann and I had made other plans to all get together again during their visit with friends and friends of friends.
I'd also captured a few shots of the beginning of the changing of the guard. I cherish this one on one time I got to have with Ann and the time to just be with the Impastatos, the Brennans, the staff and the Napoleon House as another chapter is beginning. Change, change, change; and, life goes on in New Orleans.
Huge Merci to Ann and Marty for a wonderful lunch-looking forward to catching up over the rest of your visit!
