Last night's dinner party had been planned long before there was a glimmer of the SCOTUS decision on the horizon. For many of us, Friday was spent in shock, amazement and total joy that NOW everywhere in the United States you can marry who you love. (I know, I know-good old MS and LA are dragging their feet as usual-kicking and screaming!) Many said: "I didn't think it would happen in my lifetime."
We were all happy to wake up on Saturday morning, pinch ourselves, and know that it was all real. It wasn't just a dream anymore, but a dream that had come true for many of my friends. It was time to party.
More about the party another time. For now, I want to celebrate my friends Steward and Eric who have been together over 30 years and my friends John and Mike who have also been together over 30 years. John and Mike actually had to go to Washington DC so they could get married. Now their marriage must be recognized in Louisiana.
Lots of love and congrats to these wonderful men!
