Day Two began for Sue and I, with a visit over to Dupre Street for coffee and "treats" with Eric, Stew and Louie Boy. We'd decided that we didn't need to rush and would allow the day (and our stomachs and feet) to carry us along. Eric gave Sue the tour of the house and she got a chance to wander in their garden a bit. It's fun for me to share friends and family with "chosen family".
We drove down and parked on Governor Nicholl's this side of Rampart and walked into the Quarter from there. That way...you don't have to pay to park, there are no two hour limits, and we could wander aimlessly to our little hearts content without worrying about the car.
We began with a bank deposit at the Whitney for me and then over to the Napoleon House. Some days, I just don't feel like going photo crazy in there and that day was one of them. I could focus on Sue, the food, and many old and new friends. From the Napoleon House we headed over to the River.
We sat for a bit at the large gazebo/stage next to the docking spot for the Natchez. Pretty soon it was passing us going up river and coming back to dock. It was fun to watch. We caught up on family, years being out of contact, and the romantic relationships we'd had during all those years.
I think that pigeon couple was listening and exclaiming: "Mon Dieu!"
It's New Orleans, so there is eye-candy for photographers everywhere. Every day, every visit; offers beautiful, new, fun and different. We crossed into Jackson Square to visit Louis Sahuc's place and savor his wonderful New Orleans photos, some of which I am proud to say I own. Then, we wandered down Decatur Street toward the French Market. It was fun to do "girlie" things together like look at hats, clothes, dresses and other items that I usually rush on by.
After a very brief run through the French Market we headed back for part two of our "Beignet Contest" challenge. Cafe Du Monde never disappoints me. It didn't disappoint Susan either. We each had a frozen Cafe au Lait which was perfect in the heat and our order of 3.
What do you think Susan chose as her favorite?
We headed back to the car through Jackson Square and the more neighborhood parts of the Quarter. It was bursting with music, our wonderful architecture and bikes a plenty. I leave you on this Saturday morning, with a collage of my fun with "Cousin Company". Happy Saturday!
