Our "Violette" was back in repair mode again on Friday. Our New Orleans Piano man, Ryan Peterson was back to see what magic he could work with our old, tired and worn out girl. I wasn't crazy. He showed me why the right peddle was only working on the lower half of the keys. Plus there was also a cushion on the pedal that had fallen off. It appears that this was also the reason that the keys felt stiff when I was striking them. Although the keys didn't have to come off this time, Ryan still had to adjust every wire and cushion. We even found a little bit of the mummified cat food crunchies hanging around.
The timing was perfect all the way around for a settling in to piano here. I'd just received my photo of Chloe and Clare from Kate to include, along with permission to use a great photo I'd found of her and Wayne at their wedding. Even though we are celebrating in a big way on Columbus Street, it's also a memorial to Nannie and Papa and Wayne.
It began like these photos on the left and right below.
Even though I knew it was okay with Kate for me to use their wedding photo-I had to find it again. I'd stumbled across it in one of my journals and really couldn't remember which one. That became a Saturday morning hunt that ended with success!
After some crashing leaded glass lamp shades and the creative use of extra ceiling fan globes...we were back in business.
This Moon-Rivering bunch is back together again! I'll be playing Moon River for Mom on a telephone call sometime soon.
Hmmm, I hadn't thought about it till now-but, I could do the same for Kate and the girls.
And then of course, there's that trio of angels: Nannie and Papa and Wayne. They're with me any time I play, but especially when I play Moon River. What a gang!
Actually, I have to confess to building a whole chorus of Moon River angels these days. For some reason, they come more easily to home in Cadrieu.
As I sit here writing, I'm transported to my chair beside Monsieur Winkelmann's keys. Et, voila! I am surrounded by the faces of Nannie and Papa, Wayne, Vann, Russ, Sister Ann and Nadine. And of course, my Dali is snoozing peacefully away at my feet on "her" rug.
Ah, the power of music and Moon River!
Wishing you a Sunday of making that magic work for you!
