Loving hats as I do, I have many that never make it out of the house on my head. Of course, there are my favorites in France that have a totally different life than the hats here.
Here in New Orleans, we run the gamut from vintage family heirloom hats, to baseball caps, and the wide brimmed babies I adore.
I do have one vintage hat that hangs on the wall in the front room. I never wear it, and probably won't. Last week it screamed at me. Maybe it was feeling just a bit left out.
The afternoon sunshine was sneaking in to shadow the far wall. It highlighted the hat perfectly, as if to say: "Hey, look at me. Aren't I beautiful? Maybe you should think about wearing me! Come on!"
I didn't put it on, but I did shoot a number of photos. It is beautiful. The texture and the faux flowers in the sunshine spoke to me.
I played around a little bit to see what it would look like in black and white and with different camera settings.
The shot on the left suddenly turned into a stunning sunflower all its own.
What a wonderful, pampering day for a hat that lives its life on the wall.
