...dead or resting traffic lights! I've passed these guys many times on my bike ride to the grocery store at Rouse's, but was on a mission and was usually without my camera. It was a different story on my way home from Tulane last Thursday. Aren't they fun? So much fun, that I actually got off my bike and spent some time with them!
It made me think of the "life" of a traffic light. They have their corner. They have a purpose and power, even though there are times when they are ignored. They also carried me to their lives after the storm. I used to sit in my sad and flooded house on Columbus Street and watch the traffic light on the uptown-riverside corner of Broad and Bayou Road blink yellow endlessly. Caution! Caution! That certainly was an appropriate message at the time. I developed a much deeper appreciation of traffic lights after the storm. From August, 2005 to February, 2006; our traffic lights were not working. We lived with 4-way stop signs at every intersection. I remember that day in February when the lights on Broad Street began working again. I actually got out of my truck and thanked the guys from the Department of Transportation. Functioning traffic lights signaled that we were beginning to be on the mend.
What do you see when you see a traffic light?
Happy Monday, and...
Have a Great Week!
