This time of year, I always look for the pelicans on my bike rides. They can be seen hovering over Bayou St. John and in and around City Park. Sunday morning I noticed this guy as I entered City Park. Crossing one of the bridges, I noticed this guy flying back and forth overhead.
I wandered around to the other side expecting to see more pelicans, but no go. I continued on down the road and all of a sudden noticed some "heads" peaking up and barely visable above the bank. I parked and...
What a treat!
I followed the pelicans.
For a while I stood on the bank. Then, I hung onto a palm tree that leaned out into the water a bit so I could get closer. (Flashes of falling in the Lot in the past prevented me from being to daring!) Once the pelicans started moving, I got my bike and walked along beside the bank. I realized that they were making a circle to another bridge that might mean more and different photos.
They were in no hurry, but every bit along the way was worth the wait. Demarcations felt like they were passing from one world to the next.
By the time I got to the bridge...
They were off!
