Now, does that Sammie Cat look happy? Dali and Sam have been such road warriors over the years.
They were real troopers!
All my ponderings about transition, Jim and Joan's move to California with 2 dogs and a cat, a good friend's recent move to California with 3 cats, and watching my friends try to find transport for that wonderful Baxter boy in France; got me thinking about the last big move that Dali and Sam and I made together. There have been many others along the way, but I define a big stateside move as a move that requires renting a BIG TRUCK!
That winter of 2012, we were returning to a completely empty Columbus Street. We were hauling every piece of stuff I had left in the basement at 411, furniture, and enough house/kitchen items to at least be able to begin to get settled. This was our Ferguson "starter" set, with commitments from friends in New Orleans and Covington to round us out!
Looking at those various pieces on the patio at 411 make me smile. Some of you might know right where they are on C-Street today.
Originally, we were returning to the states because Dali was having trouble, we needed to be together AND I needed to work. Then, before leaving France Dad fell; and there suddenly became many more reasons for this return. I had no idea when we left France, that we would lose our Dal in less than 4 months together in New Orleans. It makes these photos of our road trip that much more meaningful today.
Sammie Cat and I soldier on. We miss our angel girl and co-navigatoress! But, she's always with us in spirit on our many and often traveled roads and airways!
Happy Sunday!
