I have a couple favorite shots of the Chatette that tend to be the photos I use in blog posts, on Facebook, or whenever I'm making birthday and other greeting cards for family and friends. When this shot popped up this morning, I realized that this is an angle that shows the part of the "compound" that I know the best and use the most but rarely photograph.
Because...I'm usually standing in the middle of it myself!
So, it's fun to have a shot that shows: the "ten stone steps" that I talk about regularly; the train tracks between the Chatette and the barn; how the Chateau de Cadrieu looms above us; and, a happy back terrace.
You get an idea just how BIG the buddleias are and you can barely see the rose garden on the other side of the wooden rocking chair. Believe it or not, there really is a clothes line that always hangs on the covered part of the terrace!
What a treat to find on a Saturday morning in New Orleans after a long day of teaching and appointments on Friday. How wonderful to be able to settle into a photo that carries me home, where I can: pet the buddleia; caress and smell the roses; scoop a few walnuts along the train tracks to put in the pockets of my overalls; and stand at this window behind/beside the buddleia and marvel at this wonderful life in the Lot!
I am just...
...right here!
