Getting ready to head out of New Orleans around the 15th of this month isn't unusual for me with all the trips I've made between New Orleans and Ferguson since our 2012 return. What is unusual, is this time...it's what I consider a REAL ROAD TRIP! What makes it a REAL ROAD TRIP? Even though I'm starting with my usual: pit stop at Mahogany Oaks to visit and have a night with Sam; heading to Madison to visit and stay with Glenn and Bill; and, then on into St.Louis to spend some time with Dad, Kat and Tom...there is no turn around to head back south down I-55.
Instead, I'll be heading east: for a visit with Kate, Chloe and Clare in Sewanee, TN for Thanksgiving, further east to Highpoint, NC to visit with Vann's cousin Sherry and her husband Glenn; and then, south to Daytona Beach to visit with Marina before heading back west to complete my circle to New Orleans. It's a whirlwind with a day of driving for a night and a day of visiting, but it's worth it.
I promised myself there were people I'd see and things I'd do before I headed back to France in the spring. As you can imagine, I'll be including you along the way or sharing when I return.
Here's the CHALLENGE for you: Sherry says we need to have a name for this road trip. I'm not sure yet what the prize will be, but comment on this post or on Facebook to join in on the fun.
Can't wait to hear what y'all come up with!
HAPPY SUNDAY!
The shot above is from when Dali and I were camping together in Wall Doxey State Park in Holly Springs, MS when we were on our way back to New Orleans from St. Louis for the first time after Hurrican Katrina. Roadtripping in my overalls, with my Dal and my Ford Ranger SPLASH dubbed "Willie Nelson", is quite a bit different than me in my rental car these days, but hey-it's a different life. Hope you'll join in the fun!
