It had been a long wait for this early bird, before the rally started. This powerful opening set the tone for the rest of the day. She put me right where I needed to be: sitting on the ledge beside the Naitonal Museum of the American Indian; hearing a language that was not my own that morphed into a flowing, unifying, focusing chant; and, immersed in the depth, power and pulse of the resounding drum beat that called on our ancestors to:
Come back
Walk with us and protect all of us
A shout out to indigenous women rising
I felt the shout out to all women rising. As you can imagine...we were surrounded, held, nurtured and carried!
I'm attaching this link in hopes that you too can see this powerful and moving opening to the Women's March in DC: https://youtu.be/rp1FyjB8WXQ?t=5m39s
