For me, it's THE MARCH and it's not just about women.
I like to think of women as the heart of this march that reaches beyond boundaries, biases, judgements, and divisive issues; to stand in solidarity and embrace the humaness of all.
I will be writing more about the evolution of THE MARCH and what it means to me over the coming days, as I prepare to make my "pilgrimage" to DC.
Today, it's about a world standing together.
There is something energizing and empowering to see how many countries and cities around the world will be sponsoring marches, vigils and events to show solidarity with DC and the rest of the marches happening all over the USA. Of course, I was particularly interested to see what was going on in France.
When I first checked the International Directory, Paris and Montpellier were the two listed cities. Checking again this morning, I saw that the list has grown to now include: Auvillar, Montpellier, Nice, Paris, Strasbourg and Toulouse! Reading the statements from each participating city no matter where in the world it is; brings crocodile tears to my eyes that run down my cheeks.
We stand together!
I had to do a little further pondering this morning. What would I have been doing if I were home in Cadrieu in the midst of all of this? Would I have gone to the March in Paris? Would I have gone to the candlelight vigil in Toulouse? I can ponder all I want, but the reality is...
...DC here I come!
The beautiful piece of art from the Women's March on Washington above on the left, was done by Louisa Cannell. It spoke to me the moment I saw it and has become my favorite piece from the event thus far.
