Gaz and I were just back from our walk when the phone rang. It was Jane. I told her that her timing was perfect since we'd just gotten home and with the rain the night before, I wasn't planning to cut any more grass at the moment. We laughed about the elements of our lives and in no time, she and Sydney and their puppy Jipp were on their way over.
Our thought was that Gaz could be a calming influence on the youngster. They did well together, but eventually Gaz had enough and retired to one of the beds upstairs.
Jane came through the door with these gorgeous flowers. She mentioned that in their perma-culture efforts, she is also interested in doing "market flowers." This bouquet is certainly a gorgeous example of bouquets that could be in her future.
I've learned over the years that each friendship has its own flow and personality.
Jane is one of my longest standing "girlfriends" in the Lot. She knows herself well and will tell you that she is no good at keeping in touch when people are away. When we're together we're together, but when we're not, we're not. When I am in the states, we are in touch from time to time. But, from here it is often more than weekly. Because I know Jane, I have no expectations of regular contact when I'm away. This, is our friendship.
Her bouquet reminds me that friendships are as different as the flowers in her bouquet. The shapes, colors, groupings, varieties all come together to make the beautiful friendship bouquets in our lives. Some need to be held on to tightly, others loosely. The secret is being open to whatever works.
I am blessed. My friendship bouquet is: huge; colorful; varied; pairs, trios and gangs; and, has the most amazing aroma that takes my breath away every day! I am grateful for my friends. And, you know who you are!
