With the Lot River smack in front of the Chatette and along the route we take in both directions, each spot has its own charm and personality. The riverfront evolves over time, but rather shockingly for me with the degree of erosion that we have in front of us. During our 15 years of being a we, favorite pieces of our view have simply slipped away into the river. I feel like I've lost an old friend.
Looking to the right in the shot above, last year there had been another tree to the right of the one that hangs over the Lot. I thought it looked sparser than usual, and then I realized that either half of it was gone or there had been another tree that had slipped into the Lot. Some of the lushness and shade disappered along with it.
The bank felt naked to me.
I had a favorite tree a little further toward Cajarc that I photographed madly. I missed it even more. It was a beauty and a huge part of our view during our first years here.
All this change never seems to be easy for me. I'm trying to learn to let go, especially when I have no control and there's nothing I can do.
Happy Sunday!
