Getting in to the groove with all of these morning bike rides has been wonderful, but sometimes I actually have to venture in to Cajarc to take care of some business.
That usually means after 9 and before noon, with a little coordination in the middle so as to miss the buses coming in each direction.
Wednesday was one of those days for me.
I discovered that I hadn't planned too well AND I'd forgotten how truly nasty it can be when it's tourist season and everyone has decided to have their family meetings on the sidewalk in front of Lagarde! Between the cars, loud people, inconsiderate people, crowds and long lines at the grocery store, and uncharacteristically rude checkers; I decided to do my banking, hit the Gamm Vert, and then treat myself to a little nibble and some time beside the river.
I'd remembered that there was a bench directly under the bridge that crosses the Lot between Cajarc and Salvignac-Cajarc. It would be the perfect spot. Hoping for a single ice cream, but settling for a bag of Lays Cheese flavored chips and a Coke Lite at the Casino,-I headed on down to the river.
I parked my bike and realized my bench was gone, but I sat on the riverside ledge instead. It was a little more ominous than usual with each car roaring as it rumbled across the iron grated bridge above me.
By the time I'd eaten almost that whole bag of chips and the Coke Lite, I had:
noticed that there were canoes and kayaks everywhere; realized when asked that "no" there really wasn't anywhere official to swim along the riverfront; watched a sweet little boy throw two dried leaves in to the Lot, smile, giggle, and tease with me before running off with his parents; and, thought aren't I lucky...
...I get to live very close to this all year long!
Happy Friday!
