Days of rain and no phone or internet lend themselves to getting more chores done around here. From the photo above, I'm sure you can see why they are chores. Everything is black. Some things can be saved and somethings can't.
And then, in addition to the black everywhere you find the sadness of reminders.
This favorite calendar that was in the kitchen was stuck on the date of the fire...November 28.
Anything that was under glass was protected pretty well. Broken glass was a concern, but I discovered with Moon River that the sheet music cover was still fine. Not as fine as AsTime Goes By that was under un-broken glass, but fine all the same.
Fortunately,I have the perfect place for Moon River to rest. Long before Monsieur Winkelmann had come to live with us, I'd brought the sheet music with me in anticipation. It rested on a beautiful hand-carved wooden book or music stand that I'd gotten at a brocante ages ago.
Audrey returned to rest there.
Home again in a very strange and odd way, but home all the same! (Just no glass or frame to protect her!)
Other sentmental items were saved.
They were mostly cross stiches by my Mom and Jean, so that made me happy.
At the end of this long and emotional roller coaster kind of day; I felt accomplished, relieved, happy and exhausted all at once!
Happy Monday!
