There was a hint of relief for us on Friday. How glorious to wake up to rain and cool after a few scorchers! Who knew that the best was yet to come? Saturday's rains of relief and calm left all of us sighing and even a little happy to let it cool us off on a walk down the road!
I'd made a morning visit to Evelyn during a break in the rain.
I thought I might need my umbrella but didn't take it.
Of course, it poured the whole time I was there and was still pouring when I was ready to go home.
Evelyn offered an umbrella, but I decided to throw caution to the wind.
I didn't care so much if I got wet, but did ask for a sack so my nice Donna Leon's wouldn't get wet.
When I got home, I threw open all the windows and doors and just relished and reveled in the rain and cool.
It was a time to read, write, mend a few dresses, and continue my work on relearning a couple of old classics with my Monsieur Winkelmann. Nothing like Beethoven's For Elise and the Opening Theme to Grieg's Piano Concerto with a cool, gentle breeze blowing in from the river and randy raindrops teasing at the open front door and windows!
As grateful as we are for the rain now, I remind myself of the other side when we've had endless days of rain and are cheering the sunshine. I try to keep perspective, but yesterday was heaven.
Happy Sunday!
