Stoop sitting on Sunday was a treat for me. From my French "stoop:" the view is amazing; the creatures are everywhere; the sun (or the moon for that matter) can be rising; stunning colors of the rainbow appear; and, you never know who might stop by for a visit!
I like the feeling of being open to the world from just this spot.
Generally, I journal and drink coffee.
I remember those feelings from my early times here and those times after the fire, when my heart filled with feelings of enough.
There might be a ravaged and burned out Chatette and Monsieur Winkelmann behind me, but just that view is enough for me.
But then, there are times of more.
The times when if you were anywhere else you'd miss something really special. Sunday was one of those times. As you can imagine, being smack on the road there are lots of sounds.
I hear the cars and the bike riders (especially if they're having a conversation) coming long before they arrive. I can even hear the joggers and walkers.
Sunday morning, there was a click click click on the road. I thought a jogger was passing by the front flower box. I looked up to say bonjour, but we froze.
There before my eyes on the other side of the road was a fawn. Our eyes locked for moments.
My heart melted. I stayed very still and whispered cooing sounds.
Soon, the little guy turned and jogged back to the side yard. I decided to go in and get the camera and see if I could see the baby deer in the yard. I wasn't fast enough. I did see my new friend trotting down the road towards Cajarc. I kept my eye on him all the way around the bend and out of sight, wanting the fawn to be safe. I was happy to see cars stop or slow, and hoped that his direction would be somewhere "off the road" as soon as possible.
While I've seen deer in the fields from my bike, this was a first fawn eye to eye from the Chatette. It wasn't easy to get photos. I did squeeze out one from when he was up the road.
What a treat! So much beauty and special serendipity from a Sunday morning stoop!
Happy Wednesday!
