It is no secret that I am a lover of stamps. I'm the one who goes into post offices all over the world and asks for some of the "pretty ones"-collecting I learned that these were the "commemoratives!"
I'm also one that likes to put more than the required postage on my cards and letters because it makes them prettier AND they become little presents!
I've been ordering my stamps and postal needs in France from the La Poste website for a good while now. During my last stint in New Orleans, I began ordering from the USPS for the first time.
With all the hoopla about the USPS and our mail, I've been concerned about my Absentee Ballots getting to New Orleans through the normal poste. I considered many options for speed and certainty and settled on sending my ballots to the Orleans Parish Registrar of Voters by Chronospost-3-day delivery.
While researching these options, I saw this set of French stamps that grabbed my eye. The people on the stamps were wearing masks! I had to order some along with my special envelopes.
Everything arrived this week, and I decided to share these French Stamps here with you. I thought it was to encourage mask wearing, but now I realize that it was two fold: to encourage mask wearing and to remind us just how many people are taking care of us during the corona virus pandemic.
How wonderful for these essential workers and employees to be honored on a French Postage Stamp.
HUGE Merci to all!
Happy Wednesday!
