As I write here on Wednesday afternoon, we have had three mornings of beautiful sunshine and no rain. However, it is raining now. I knew the predictions and tried my best to get done the things I knew were important to do before the rain set in AND before I leave to return to the states for a visit.
A lot can go to hell in a hand basket in six weeks. This way, I know I have a jump on difficult and unruly areas that can get wild quickly and make me crazy because I am behiid before I even get started.
Monday, I managed to get everything done over by the barn and on the land that I wanted to do.
The fresh aroma of cut grass and that already greener than green spring color made my morning.
I still had enough time to ride into the bank in Cajarc to make one last dollar euro transfer. Honestly, with the war in Ukraine and the price of oil going up, I see the value of my dollar shrinking as it has done in the past.
I try to stay on top of it.
Tuesday morning, I decided to attack the train tracks. This is quite a job, but I discovered last fall that I can actually run the lawnmower over the tracks and get a nice section cleared. I'd only done a path in the fall, but this time I aspired to more and made it.
This morning, even though I could have done more on the tracks, I hit the rose garden on the terrace.
I'd been working on it a bit, but wanted to get it cut.
It looked great except for the weeds and taller grass around the base of all of the roses.
I got out some other tools to dig and remove the weeks around each of the roses and cut the land again. I already have growth coming out on all of my roses that I'd cut back. It feels too early to me, but we shall see.
Maybe I'll be returning to some gorgeous blooming roses when I'm back at the end of April.
Happy Wednesday!
