As a social worker, I've spent a lot of time during my career looking at "barriers" to service. So many issues can get in the way of people getting the services they want and need. Not to mention, getting reasonable, quality, culturally sensitive services when they actually get there. Ever since I went into private practice years ago, I've believed in trying to be as affordable as possible. Today, I continue to offer my therapeutic services on a sliding scale-ranging from $25-$50/hour based on the client's ability to pay. It works for me. I hope it works for my clients too.
Sam's lucky. The only barrier she faces is the retractable screen that keeps her inside. But, she probably doesn't see it that way!
