I've mentioned before what a gift the opportunity to teach adjunct faculty at the Tulane School of Social Work has been for me. I return in the fall, but having a break during the summer was a different kind of gift. I stopped in at the school from time to time for various reasons. One day I was fortunate enough to run into a couple of former students. Both had been in my methods section. We sat out on a bench under one of the giant, ancient oaks, and visited a bit. Conversation turned to France, when I might be going back, and how they'd like to visit some day after graduation. At the time, I couldn't really say when I'd be going back. I was hoping for workshops to make in France so I could go, but they didn't. I was on to plan B. And then one of the young women said: "I always remember your description of the puzzle pieces floating around out there, before they fall into place. It was a helpful visual for me." I chuckled. We all chuckled. Because we know, just because they fall into place for a while...you can always count on something to shake them up again.
Looking at all this stone...is it any wonder I see the puzzle pieces of my life floating around in the universe? But yes...some do settle!
