I've often written that the infrastructure of my professional life in New Orleans remained remarkably intact, even with 5000 miles and an ocean between us. Don't get me wrong. I worked at it. I kept up my licenses, my professional memberships, my continuing education, and often offered workshops when I returned to New Orleans. Sometimes I went the extra mile, but always enjoyed it. One of my enjoyable extra miles was writing the "Member Abroad" column for the Louisiana Association of Clinical Social Workers (LACSW). Through the tenures of two presidents, and a respite with the third; I am now back writing my column with our incoming President, Connie Konikoff, LCSW. Things are a little different now...I'm writing from New Orleans and calling the column: LACSW Longings: Lessons-Love-Laughs. My first column is entitled: Aging Isn't Just for People, and addresses questions to ask as an organization ages. I should also note the different styles in organization presidents. It was exciting for me to discover yesterday, that Connie has penned her President's Response to my article that will also appear. We are on the road. Are you a clinical social worker in Louisiana? If so, you should consider becoming a member of the Louisiana Association of Clinical Social Workers. Go to www.lacsw.org and check out the organization's mission and long list of benefits to membership. SOAR to Success in SOCIAL WORK with me, Laury A.
