Prior to my departure for the big anniversary celebration in St. Louis, I'd gone back and forth many times about whether to take Sammie cat along or just let her stay in New Orleans with my friend/tenant, John. John asked: "Does she like to travel?" Describing some of her carrier activities to him, I'd have had to say "no", but after Thursday morning, I now know "NO" Sammie does not like to travel. She's a smart girl. She knows that the minute her collar goes on with the bells that she's either going to the vet, France, or hitting the road to St. Louis. The rental car was set Wednesday night-the big carrier that had been Dali's was in the back seat, rugs in place, litter pan, food bowls, water ready, and then about 5am, Sam disappeared, not a jingle to be heard. I spent the last hour and a half looking in every spot and finally about 6:15, took her stuff out of the car, left John notes and messages on Facebook, and I was off. Off, but feeling terrible. I'd promised myself to NEVER leave her in New Orleans again during hurricane season. Luckily, everything went well. Sam's communication skills are EXCELLENT! And, a huge thank you to John for holding down the fort.
