During 2000, I made a trip to Paris where I met a friend and then went on to some time in the Lot in Tour de Faure. It was December. I had a little time on my own to soak up Paris at her Christmas best, before I caught the midnight train from the Gare d'Austerlitz to Cahors. Even though I wanted to send Christmas cards that year, I knew it wouldn't happen if I waited till I returned to the states. Then it hit me. I had time. Why not get my cards, buy some stamps, and write my Christmas cards from Paris. Oh, I could have found some nice cozy bar or bistro and snuggled up with a frothy cappucinno. But no, I decided that I would pick places in Paris that matched my loved ones and write their cards from just that spot. And so I wrote from: the Eiffel Tower, St. Eustache, Henri Miller's Sculpture "Ecoute", the Stravinksy Fountain, the Louvre, Sacre Coeur, the Tuilieries, and the list goes on. Maybe I need to do the same thing this year, just from New Orleans!
