The first thing I did after I got Sam situated and put my bags down, was to open Msr. Winkelmann and play a little bit of Moon River from memory. He responded to my touch, welcoming me with his sweet, melodious, (and in tune) notes.
Since I've gotten back to playing regularly, I've noticed the shape of my sheet music. You can easily tell the favorites...flimsy paper, small tears where the pages are turned, wrinkles and crinkles, and discolored pages. Then, there are the "floaters"-pages that are no longer attached as a whole song. I found a page of Moon River living inside of Till There Was You. But then, not only are they well loved; some of them are more than 50 years old.
It doesn't matter what day it is, my Mom loves to hear me play piano. Making my Mother's Day phone call, I remembered how I'd often play piano to her over the phone when we were living here full-time. And so, yesterday Monsieur Winkelmann and I Moon Rivered Happy Mother's Day to Mom. As you can see, even Sammie cat joined in. Happy Mother's Day Mom...one more time!
