Since the route of the bike path runs into Interstate 70, there is a lit tunnel that takes you under the expressway. Friends and family had already described it to me, but they said nothing about the surprises that I found. Some might call it graffiti. I call it art! Passing through the tunnel on the way, I knew my camera would be busy on the return.
I looked for a placard or sign that would have indicated that this was a "sanctioned" work. I didn't find anything, but will check again on another trip. It also appears that most of the art work is the same style and could have been done by the same person. There seemed to be elements of aggression and violence. I put the artist (or artists) in the scene and imagined the process of drawing, painting and all that would be required. I also realized that these figures could be characters in cartoons, comic books, television shows, or some other publication that I'm not aware of.
Then, there were pieces of vehicles and tire rims that added a fun collage effect on both ends.
Hidden in the larger pieces, I found this little guy below who became my favorite character in this huge piece of public art! Do you have a favorite?
